What is a Singularo anyway?

Back in the early quake 1 days, i used to play a bit online, as thats also when I ran and ISP, and it was good to play against people on our own ISP. I used to go under the name Abaddon, as I found it in some old reference and it sounded cool: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apollyon for more on Abaddon and its background, which dovetails in nicely with my reading habits.

However, I noticed other people with names they'd similarly found, and one day, there was another Abaddon on the quake server.

I went looking for a new name in various places, but of course, if its already a valid word, chances are some other n00b somewhere will also have liked it as well, and you get conflicts.

So I decided to invent my own word. Sticking to the "desctruction" sort of theme, I thought that another name for a black hole would be a nice choice for a name. As a blackhole is also called a singularity, well a gravitational singularity actually: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gravitational_singularity I decided that singularity would be the base of the name.

However it did need to be changed a bit, as there were other players already using Singularity. To keep the flavour of the word, I only removed the "ity", and from there is was a simple step through the letters until it sounds right. Singulara, Singulari sound female to me. Singulare and Singularu don't make sense, which left Singularo.

So, if I'm gaming, Singularo means a black hole from which you can never escape, in person.

But in the real world, it just means one person. This person.
